"Sex and the City" delivers! <3<3<3

I just came back from seeing SATC, and all I have to say is LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! Critics might say that it feels like a super-sized episode, but really, what's wrong with that? The show's format was a success for a reason, and even on the big screen, it works. I think you have to really love the characters to buy into some of the more obvious visual gags, but it works, truly works, for the biggest fans. There were so many emotional and heart-tugging moments, I was nearly teary-eyed in every moment, but there was a sweetness with all of the stories that it was like magic to see them all together again.

I just read that SATC is on its way to be the top-opening romantic comedy of all-time; quite a feat! This is def. a film I wil buy when it's out on DVD to add to my SATC collection. Did you all get to see it, and if so, did you love it as much as I did? :D

SATC on EW

"Sex and the City" is being featured on the current cover of Entertainment Weekly. It's a nice little article that reveals behind-the-scenes factors in developing the film. This is probably one of the last few pieces of news coverage before the film comes out. I really hope that the film delivers!

one for the road

In the fashion spread of all fashion spreads, Sarah Jessica Parker is featured on the June cover of Vogue, as well as appearing alongside Chris Noth in a pictorial spread. This is in conjunction with the movie opening of "Sex and the City," where it feels like the PR train hasn't quite stopped chugging, despite some SATC fatigue by now (and I don't mean from sex). So what do I think?

Love, love, love the pictorial. What a fantasy-ridden, high-society, dramatic, romantic, sexual, playful, and seductive portfolio that screams power-couple of the century.

Hate, hate, hate the cover. What is up with that open-mouth gaze while sitting between some guy's crotch? Nani?!?

After you are done eating up the fantasy, click below to see behind-the-scenes action.

SJP is not Carrie Bradshaw

New York Magazine had a very insightful interview on the beginnings and rise of Sarah Jessica Parker, from her very poor upbringing to now owning a stoop in the Big Apple, which to her is "heaven." This is a story that I never knew about her, but in my mind, really explains how she came to be both a dichotomy and the spirit of said Carrie Bradshaw, who while obsessed with the material objects in the fashion world, can still love a rich man not for his money, but because she truly loves him. Only SJP can pull that off and be likable and believable! There were also many comments from SJP lamenting the too-glitzy Manhattan taking over the idealized, gritty city of the past, as well as her showcasing the prim and proper Victorian ideals that she tries to apply to her real-life.

second single from Sex and the City movie soundtrack

Jennifer Hudson's new song, "All Dressed in Love," was just released. This is the 2nd original song from the "Sex and the City" movie soundtrack.

I don't know, I'm not really feeling the 70's disco vibe of the song. It doesn't feel like it ties in with the series itself in terms of musical context. Not only that, but this is so far removed from the Fergie single that I have a bad feeling about the overall soundtrack as an album. Am I the only one confused by these diverging song styles?

and the birds came to nest

I don't know what's going on here. I mean, it is definitely a bold move, but the whole vertical garden floating on Sarah Jessica Parker's head is something I'm more likely to see at a botanical garden/aviary than at a London movie premiere. By donning the Philip Treacy creation, is she bringing out the best in quintessential British charm or pissing off ornithologists everywhere?

Perhaps she was trying to foreshadow the bird headpiece worn in the "Sex and the City" wedding sequence film teaser?

Miss SJP and her Big Ol' Feet

In case anyone was interested, someone on eBay is selling a pair of shoes which they claim was worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming "Sex and the City" film, although no designer name was mentioned as the maker of these shoes.

That platform heel is killer, but they are nonetheless cute, and if these are the real thing, what a cool piece of movie memorabilia.

The most interesting thing to note for me was that these are a size 8M. Isn't Miss SJP a teeny-weeny thing? Who knew her feet were so big? :p

Auction is ending in only 4 hours or so, so click on the link below if you're thinking of bidding.

new single from Sex and the City movie soundtrack

Fergie's "Labels or Love," the movie theme for the film version of "Sex and the City" was just released, and you can hear it here.

Have to say, it took a couple of hearings for the song to grow on me. It's nice that they did an homage to the original theme score, but I don't like it when Fergie talks through portions of the song. It's somewhere between a marching chant and rapping in slo-mo. I'm usually very polarized when it comes to Fergie's music. Having seen her perform live at a BEP concert once, she can definitely sing, but her music choices are never very reflective of her talent, and anyhow, maybe I'm getting old, but this song started to give me a headache half way in.

What do you think?

The entire discography for the soundtrack is below, and it's slated to be released on May 27th.

the ladies are back.....!

Few American icons have influenced the way my friends and I thought about love, sex, and life more than the ladies from Sex and the City. As we were coming of age ourselves, first in college, then in our first jobs, the ladies were there to make sure that we didn't make the same mistakes, if life threw us a doozy that we didn't fall too hard, and that there is such a thing as happy endings, even if they didn't start out as your typical fairytale romance. They also made it ok for us to obsess over clothes, bags, and shoes, and that was pretty cool, too. (Can you remember what life was like before SATC? No one talked about or carried fashion the way they did!)

I always thought of myself as a cross between Charlotte and Carrie, traditional by whims, but in my zest for life, a free creative spirit still trying to live by the rules. A good friend of mine was the classic combo of Samantha and Miranda, tough on the outside, sarcastic and somewhat cynical, and who went through guys like they were t-shirts on a hot summer day, but on the inside, vulnerable and caring, looking for the guy who can see through her shell.

As the countdown begins when SATC will be in the theatres, I approach this movie with trepidation of what will happen to all of my favorite characters. I have avoided all trailers so I have no idea what the story is about (I detest spoilers!), and I've been very harsh on some of the wardrobe choices that were used in some of the sneak peek clips that I've seen, but I still hope that this movie doesn't disappoint, in that when the TV series ended, Carrie had her Prince Charming in Big. What could they possibly do to make this couple not last? I hope that from all the different wedding dresses Carrie wears, she will certainly get a chance to walk down that aisle for real.
